(COUNTING FROM THE LAST DAY OF L.M.P)
AROUND 2 WEEKS FROM CONCEPTION:
What are the changes in growth and development of your fetus?
Following the zygote formation, a mitotic cell division takes place producing two blastomeres.
It takes approximately 30 hours after the fertilization to reach the blastomere stage. The divisions proceed further through the 4, 8, 16 cell stage. A 16- celled structure thus formed is termed as morula.
Blastocyst is another stage succeeding the morula which takes over and becomes ready to get implanted. The implantation of blastocyst occurs in the anterior or posterior wall of the body of the uterus near the fundus.
The implantation occurs through the 4 stages namely apposition, adhesion, penetration and invasion. But we won’t enter into the details of it.
Thus the blastocyst settles itself into the uterine endometrium. Thereafter the further processes and stages of development give rise to the development of the inner cell mass and the deciduas which later on becomes the baby and placenta respectively.
What changes are expected in you, mom?
This period may seem to be an expecting one; most probably if you had supposed to have a planned pregnancy.
The growth of the life is still progressing and you may not yet even realize it; as you are yet not experiencing any significant changes within yourself.
Furthermore a reason to expect the pregnancy would be the missing of the next period. Few days to go and you will know, what’s gonna happen? Think good and good will happen!
The primary or the first pregnancy symptoms: fatigue, breast tenderness, mood swings, etc.
What’s your role dad---Dad’s support?
Support your partner as she may turn out to be a bit more emotional at this time. She may quite be hopeful for the pregnancy. Is she? She needs you Dad.
